Going, going, gone.

March 31, 2004

First, I’d like to thank everyone for their greetings RE: my trip to India. My father has returned to the U.S. with our assistance, and has been recovering pretty well. I can’t/won’t get into details of the actual trip to India, but it was a real eye-opener for me. It was also an extremely difficult trip for me, and even moreso for my mother. We did manage to sort out the family business as well, surprisingly. To be honest, it’ll be awhile before I can get this trip to India out of my system, but not literally.

As part of my post-India days, I decided in no uncertain terms that I wasn’t willing to work 6 or 7 days a week — every week — anymore. Similarly, I realized that while I had been very short-sighted when assessing (read: missing, passing up, or departing from) good career opportunities 4 years ago, I was also correct in my belief that my current company was beating the crap out of me.

I delivered my resignation on Tuesday. I’m super-excited about the job opportunity that I’ve got coming up! I’m very grateful that I was able to make this change, given this economy. Again, I’ve decided to try not to be short-sighted. I’d been that way so frequently in the past, and it’s a really lame trait. So, I’m going to work on this, constantly reminding myself that we’ve got a pretty decent and sane standard of living here in the U.S.

My last day at current company is 4/12.
